If there is one food we constantly run out of in this house, it is jam. Between our morning toast and having a toddler who only wants PB&J sandwiches, it’s always on our grocery list.

I had grand plans of canning enough jam last year to last us a few months and… completely dropped the ball.

While that will still be on my agenda in 2021, I found an easy freezer jam recipe that will tide us over until we get our first strawberry harvest of the year. It is quick, easy, and requires ingredients that we usually have on hand.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz Fresh Strawberries
  • 3/4 cups of Sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons Ball Real Fruit Instant Pectin

Instructions

  1. Wash and de-stem strawberries.
  2. Slice strawberries and place in a medium sized bowl. Use hand masher to crush berries.
  3. After mashing, take your wand blender and blend strawberries until you reach your desired consistency.
  4. Stir pectin and sugar in the medium sized bowl holding your strawberries.
  5. Stir for 4 minutes making sure to incorporate well.
  6. Carefully pour jam into freezer-safe jars or sandwich baggies.
  7. Let jam set for 30 minutes.
  8. After jam has set, place in freezer.

As according to name, this jam stores great in the freezer for up to 1 year. We found it lasts about three weeks in the refrigerator. It is easy to modify this recipe if you would like to make this jam in bulk.

You can add to ice cream, yogurt, and, of course, the classic PB&J.
